Cardiologist Rakesh Sahni, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, and peripheral endovascular interventions and has been a pioneer in the field of nuclear cardiology for over 35 years. He provides exceptional cardiac and vascular services at Sahni Heart Center in Clark, Fords, and City of Orange, New Jersey, and aims to give his patients the highest quality cardiovascular medicine.
Dr. Sahni graduated from Dayanand Medical College of Punjab University in Ludhiana, India, in 1977. After moving to the United States, he completed an internship at Beebe Hospital in Lewis, Delaware, and his internal medicine residency at Jersey City Medical Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, and Perth Amboy General Hospital in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Dr. Sahni then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Medical College of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
From 1997 to 2013, Dr. Sahni was medical director of the cardiac catheterization lab at Raritan Bay Hospital in Amboy, New Jersey, where he was responsible for the inception and development of a cardiac catheterization program focused on diagnostic coronary angiography, acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) interventions, and elective angioplasty.
Dr. Sahni previously served as chairman of the Department of Medicine at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and director of interventional cardiology at Saint Michael Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Dr. Sahni is a member of the American Heart Association, and a fellow of the American College of Radiology, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American College of Nuclear Radiology. He has co-authored several research papers in leading medical journals and has delivered and chaired many grand rounds and cardiac catheterization conferences.
